Your Federation Dollars At Work
Charlotte Jewish Preschool and the Jewish Preschool on Sardis
According to current research, the first five years of a
child’s life are a time of enormous growth of conceptual,
spiritual and social competence. Experiences during these
early years lay the foundation for a Jewish life. As such, the
Jewish Federation is proud to support the Charlotte Jewish
Preschool (CJP) and the Jewish Preschool on Sardis (JPS).
With the Federation’s support, CJP is able to grant schol
arships to families in need, provide unmatched flexibility in
programs - from two to five days a week, half-day or full
day, and provide enrichment programs in physical educa
tion. music and Judaica.

Believing that young children
are the gateway into the
Jewish community, the Jewish
Preschool on Sardis (JPS) is
open to all Jewish children
and provides a warm, happy
environment where each
child’s unique style of living,
learning and developing is
valued and nurtured. "We’re
so appreciative for the
Federation’s financial commit
ment because we, like most
nonprofits are always stretch

on Sardis Director
For eight wonderful years,
Barbara Osborn has
taught at the Charlotte
Jewish Preschool (CJP).
Here she is shown teach
ing Sydney Torcellini and
Rebbeca Swerdlow how to
make ‘monkey bread’
(banana bread) following
story time. Both girls are
enrolled in CJP’s five-day
program for four-year-
olds. Home to over 190
children, CJP's talented
staff has over 200 com
bined years of dedicated
teaching at CJP.
Jen Lahn became a three-
year-old teacher this year at
the Jewish Preschool on
Sardis (JPS). "The nurtur
ing and love that emanates
from the teachers at the
Jewish Preschool on Sardis
are contagious. Now that I
have established a place for
myself as a parent, volunteer,
and as a professional
teacher, / cannot imagine not
being a part of JPS. My own
children attended or do
attend the JPS, and this is
the ultimate compliment!"
