The Charlotte Jewish News -June-July 2004 - Page 13 See Trikes Go at The Jewish Preschool on Sardis Riders were ready and rarin' to go. It was the fourth annual Trike- A-Thon at the Jewish Preschool on Sardis, and children exercised together in a fun way. The preschoolers have come to love this spring event because it is out doors, it’s about riding, and it’s having parents cheering them on. Children demonstrated their understanding of road signs and bike safety. Thank you, Ellen Framm for organizing another winner of a Trike-A-Thon. Thank you, parents and friends, for sponsoring our ycfung riders, and thank you, teachers, for teaching our children all about fit ness and safety. Charlotte Jewish Preschool is the Right Choice By Julie Cassell On May 17. 1996.1 walked into the Charlotte Jewish Preschool for the first time. I remember the exact date because it was my daughter’s 2nd birthday. I had never really thought about send ing a two-year-old to preschool, but with my second baby due the following fall, it seemed like a practical idea. I was secretly hop ing that the director would tell me the program was full, so that I wouldn't have a choice and would have to keep my precious daugh ter home another year. Fortunately for us, there was room. Since that day I’ve had two children graduate from CJP and my third is presently enrolled in the 3s program. I’ve served as co president of the school’s parent- teacher organization and have been a member of the Board of Directors for six years. The Charlotte Jewish Preschool is truly a special place. We are home to over 190 children. We are the only Jewish preschool in Charlotte that offers a full-day program for working parents. Our talented staff has over 200 com bined years of dedicated teaching at CJP. Our programs are flexible, with parents able to choose 2-, 3-, 4- or 5-day programs depending on their child’s age. Thanks to a generous yearly contribution from the Jewish Federation, we are able to grant scholarships to families in need. With our new building scheduled to open this fall, we are looking forward to increasing our preschool family. My oldest daughter is now a fourth grader at McKee Rd. Elementary School with a straight A average. My second daughter is a bright, successful second grader also at McKee. The school utilizes a devel opmental approach to education, meaning that the children learn through play and by using all of their senses, rather than work sheets and drills. My son is a happy three-year-old and is thrilled each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when he wakes up and realizes it’s a “school day.” Between gym with Coach Dan, music with Miss Patti, Judaica with Morah Jennifer and his won derful teachers. Miss Andrea and Miss Lois, I have never had a doubt that he is in the most nur turing, warm and wonderful envi ronment I could find. For me, the Charlotte Jewish Preschool has been a second home. It’s been a place where I have made some of the closest friendships I’ve ever had. I have always felt welcome there, whether it’s in my child’s classroom or the office of our fab ulous director, Denise Abadi. I couldn’t imagine a better place for my children’s first school experi ence. Their years at CJP have set the stage for a love of learning that will hopefully last a life time. ^ CUTTER&BUCK* Eric Lerner (704)536-8337 www.ActionPlus.biz “Chapel in the Oaks” &.
