of Donald
Margulies’
“Collected
Stories” at
Theater
Charlotte in
October
Collected Stories is the tale of
two women. Ruth Steiner - a
respected short-story writer and
teacher in her mid-fifties, and
Lisa Morrison - a naive but talent
ed 26-year-old graduate student
and aspiring writer. The story
eavesdrops on Ruth and Lisa as
their relationship evolves from
mentor/protegee to loving friends
to unintended rivals. Collected
Stories is an intelligent, elegant,
and passionate exploration of how
we navigate relationships, define
our careers, and cultivate our cre
ativity.
The play will be presented on
October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 23 at
8:00 PM and October 2, 3, 9, 10,

Charlotte, 501 Queens Road.
The play is produced by
Douglas Welton.

Poetry Performances
The audience is invited to join
us each evening before the show
at 7:30 for a reading of the poetry
of Delmore Schwartz. Schwartz’s
life and his poetry play a catalytic
role in changing the way that
Ruth and Lisa relate to one anoth
er during the course of the play.
A special reading of Delmore
Schwartz’s poetry will take place
at the Levine-Sklut Judaic Library
and Resource Center in October.
