fellow Jews. An independent
Jewish institution unaffiliated
with any local religious organiza
tion, the Association is made up of
local Jews who care about each
other — in life and in death.
The cemetery is a tranquil and
serene place which deserves to be
marked as one of Charlotte’s
Jewish landmarks. If you’ve never
visited the cemetery, plan on
doing so soon. A walk through the
cemetery tells the tale of genera
tions of fellow Jews whose lega-

is so full of life — bursting with

Studied
(JTA) — A new study found
that 40 percent of Ashkenazi Jews
are descended from just four
women. The study, produced by
the Rambam Medical Center in
Haifa, determined that the four
women lived somewhere in
Europe during the last 2,000
years, but not necessarily in the
same place or the same country.
The four women left a genetic
signature that is detectable in
some 3.5 million Ashkenazi Jews
