His many gifts will not only brighten Beth El, but will, no doubt, touch and transform our broader Charlotte community. Rabbi Streiffer is a. gifted educa tor, having taught students of every age formally at temples and infor mally at summer camps across our country. Following his studies at George Washington University, where he majored in Judaic Studies, minored in music, and graduated Summa Cum Laude, Rabbi Streiffer spent two years developing curricu lum and instant lessons for Torah Aura Productions. June 2 will mark his ordination from the Cincinnati campus of the Hebrew Union College after five years of intensive study and practical work in virtually every aspect of the rabbinate. Rabbi Streiffer is a talented ora tor, having earned the prize for the best sermon delivered in the Hebrew Union College chapel in 2006. He is a skilled musician and guitarist, with an abundance of experience in song leading. Rabbi Streiffer is experienced with pas toral care, have spent significant time training in hospital chaplaincy. His professors describe him as “very, very bright and capable.” His mentors describe him as hard work ing and great with kids. His peers describe him as a mensch. He is learned. He is humble. He is funny. And he is thrilled to be coming to Charlotte with his wife Shoshana, and their two sons, Jeremiah (who goes by Rami) who is three and Noam who is 18 months. As a fami ly, they are looking forward to call ing Temple Beth El, Shalom Park, and our Queen City of Charlotte their new home. ' TEfTlPLE BETH EL Temple Israel Welcomes Rabbi Faith Cantor Temple Israel is pleased to announce the arrival of Rabbi Faith Cantor as the Associate Rabbi for Temple Israel. Rabbi Cantor will assume her responsibilities starting August. 1. Rabbi Cantor received her Rabbinic ordination and a Masters degree in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Semindry in May 2004. After receiving her Rabbinic ordination, she continued her studies to receive an EdD in Jewish Education from the Davidson School of Education at the Jewish Theological Seminary. She has now completed her studies at JTS. While studying for her doc torate degree. Rabbi Cantor worked part time as the Rabbi-in-Residence for Jewish Studies for the Solomon Schecter Day School in Commack, NY. She also worked part time as an Associate Rabbi for the Dix Hills Jewish Center in Dix Hills, NY. Her duties at both part time jobs provid ed the Rabbi with extensive experi ence at educational programming, programming for young families with children, pulpit work, Bnai Mitzvah tutoring and working with children with special needs. Rabbi Cantor also has several years of experience as the Director of Education for Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. Rabbi Cantor grew up in Anaheim, CA, and graduated from California State University with a B. A. Degree in History. She has trav- Rabbi Faith Cantor eled extensively in Israel and comes to Temple Israel with a passion for the Rabbinate and Jewish education. Currently, Rabbi Cantor is living in Long Island, NY, with her husband, David and their nine month old son Amidan. Temple Israel is very excited to have Rabbi Cantor join our profes sional staff and we look forward to the arrival of the Rabbi and her fam ily.
