Alan is a member of a select group of people, as there are very few Jews in the NFL. He is very involved in the Jewish community in South Florida and lives a full Jewish life. Yet when he was in the NFL, he was the center of attention about the Jewish life, as he raised much curiosity among his fellow players such as Emmet Smith and others who were very interested in learning more about the Jewish people. Alan Veingrad has a message to today’s youth who might struggle to identify themselves as Jewish in a non-Jewish world. It is a mes sage of Jewish pride and knowl edge and the respect that comes Alan Veingrad now. Congregation oraK / a fro)tcl oj (.utxrvirdi 0} yiorih CdroUna with the pride. As Reconstructionists, we gather in community, a people committed to facing together the challenge of making our Jewish heritage and traditions have meaning for the con temporary Jew.
