The Charlotte Jewish News - September 2007 - Page 2 i i i i i i i i i i JEWISH FEDERATION NEWS Ambassador Dennis Ross Kicks Off the Jewish Federation’s Community Relations Council The World Affairs Council of Greater Charlotte, in con junction with the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte and the International Studies program at UNC Charlotte, is proud to welcome Ambassador Dennis Ross to speak on the current situation in the Middle East. Ambassador Ross will be speaking on Thursday, September 20 at 8 PM at Temple Israel. Ambassador Ross has been credited with managing the peace process in the Middle East through periods of crisis and stalemate. For more than twelve years as Special Middle East Coordinator under President George H.W. Bush and President Bill Clinton, Ambassador Dennis Ross patiently yet firmly guided Israel and the Palestinian Authority toward critical inter im agreements. As the architect of the peace process, he was instrumental in assisting the Israelis and Palestinians in Dennis Ross reaching the 1995 Interim Agreement, and he successful ly brokered the Hebron Accord in 1997. The Missing Peace - The Inside Story of the Fight for Middle East Peace, Ambassador Ross’s New York Times Notable Book, tells the inside story of these efforts and outlines the key lessons to be drawn from that experience.
