The Charlotte Vol. 31, No. 10 Kislev-Tevet 5770 December 2009 An Affiliate of the Jewish Federation of Greater Chariotte Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte Receives United Jewish Communities’ 2008 Sapir Award for Outstanding Annual Campaign The Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte is pleased to announce that it has been chosen as a recipient of the United Jewish Communities (UJC) Sapir Award for Campaign Excellence. The Sapir Award is UJC/Federation’s highest honor for Federations, rec ognizing communities that have demonstrated significant achieve ment in their Annual Campaigns. Our Federation was one of 15 Federations to receive the award for its fundraising efforts in the 2008 campaign. The Charlotte Annual Campaign raised $3,183,742 in 2008, a 5 percent increase over the previous year - an especially remarkable achieve ment given the economic down turn. UJC’s primary recognition for out standing annual campaigns among the 155 Jewish Federations and 400 independent Jewish commu nities across North America. Winning the Sapir Award is based on a series of criteria that cover the major aspects of campaign activity including annual cam paign increases, donor acquisition and retention, and campaign inno vation.
