Nearly 300 people braved the weather and attended the event which was a trib ute to our 2010 Main Event Chairs Kevin Levine and Louis Sinkoe and to our speaker Rabbi Daniel Brenner Five hundred people purchased tickets for The Main Event scheduled for February 21, which was cancelled due to a death in Rabbi Brenner’s family. On March 2, although over 450 people planned to attend, many opted to stay warm and dry. Rabbi Daniel Brenner, Executive Director of Birthright NEXT, was raised in Charlotte and began his speech with a trip down memory lane, regaling the crowd with stories about the old Amity Club, the NC Hebrew Academy and the commu nity’s planning of Shalom Park. Brenner spoke about his interaction with today’s young adults, characteristics which define that generation and their search for Jewish authenticity. A retro candy station was met with delight during the beautiful dessert reception which followed Rabbi Brenner’s speech. A special thank you goes to the Main Event Steering Committee for their dedication and hard work. The event raised $75,782 a 22% increase compared to the same pledges in 2009; and there were six new gifts. ^ •--W’ The Main Event theme “Going Retro ” enticed guests to enjoy candy from the “RETRO" candy bar % Amy Augustine, Julie Lerner Levine and Crystal Ben Yohanan J , HV:',' M Wilma Asrael and Eva Nove Gabby Braverman and Toby Ruda Ed Pizer and Main Event speaker, Rabbi Daniel Brenner Luck doesn’t buy & sell houses.
