Success stories: The “Greenes” are a young Jewish family with a four-year-old son. This year, due to a job loss, the “Greenes” have had a hard time paying their bills. JFS has provided welcomed relief for this family. The “Greenes” receive food from the food pantry and have been given money to pay their utility bills. For Chanukah, JFS provided the family with gifts for their young son. Mrs. Greene says that paying their bills on time is still a struggle but she is thank ful that her husband has found employment and for the help that she has been given by JFS. Linda Gupton, 65, says that the assistance given to her and her husband Jim, 69, literally saved their lives. She says, “I thank God every day for Jewish Family Services and what they did for me.” In the winter of 2006 the Gupton’s furnace broke and they had no heat for an entire month. Their house was bitterly cold. One day a friend suggested Linda con tact JFS for help. Linda says it was the hardest call she has ever made. JFS purchased a new fur nace for the Gupton home and also provided them with money to pay some of their utility bills. Since then, Jim has become seri ously ill and JFS has helped Linda cope with being a caregiver for Jim.
