EWISH^ FEDERATIONS OF GREATER CHARLOTTE www.jewishcharlotte.org To me being Jewish is about being a good person, trying to make the world a better place and passing along my family's history and religious traditions to the next generation. I think of the words of the V'ahav'ta - Loving G-d with all my heart, remembering the commandments and transmit ting these values to my children. Teaching by not just telling them what it means to be Jewish, but by showing them. Celebrating the holidays with our family and attending services is part of that. Going into their classrooms and teaching their friends and classmates about our religious holidays and traditions is another joyous part of my Jewish experience, especially seeing how proud my children are of their religion. And volunteering my time and contributing money to worthwhile Jewish and non-Jewish causes is another of the many ways I teach my children what being Jewish is. ANDY HORWITZ It's what being Jewish feels like Our Jewish community in Charlotte is such a vibrant, caring community offering great opportunities for meeting and welcoming newcomers. We are very fortunate to live a wonderful life at Shalom Park - we have a great JCC, vibrant temples and other outstanding Jewish organizations and institutions that support and enrich all aspects of our lives. Jews in other parts of the world are not as fortunate. Many are suffering, cannot live freely as Jews and must endure unspeakable acts of anti-Semitism. It is our obligation to share our good fortune with those less fortunate. LINDA GREENFIELD Judaism is an ever-expanding network that is there for me during the good and bad times. Where there is a Jewish community in the world, I know I am welcome. My involvement in BBYO has opened my eyes to the power of the Jewish people, and our ability to cause positive change in the world. The Torah could not say it any better. We truly are the chosen people. MATT BARON Every day of the year, the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte works with hundreds of local, national and international agencies to transform lives and deliver hope, dignity and comfort to millions of Jews here at home, in Israel and around the world. Please consider a gift to our 2011 Annual Campaign, and know that you're making a difference in so many lives. It's what being Jewish feels like.
