The Charlotte Jewish News -January 2013 - Page 11 Temple Beth El Continues 70th Celebra tion with Weekend of Lifelong Learning Friday and Saturday, February 8-9 Rabbi Jeremy Barras As Temple Beth eelebrates its seven deeades of learning, we in vite baek as Sadie Levin Seholars- in-Residenee Rabbi Jeremy Barras and Rabbi Mieah Sbeiffer to further open the wellspring of wisdom within our Torah. On Friday night, at a speeial 7 PM Shabbat serviee, our guest rabbis will lead a sermon in dia logue entitled “Mishpatim - The Laws of Lifelong Learning.” On Saturday morning, at our Congregational Shabbat Work shops from 9-10:15 am. Rabbis Barras and Streiffer will lead a study of saered texts entitled “An- eient Midrash and Modem Midrash: Finding ourselves in Jewish Texts.” A Congregational Braneh will follow ($8/members and $10/non-members). We will then move into our annual Arthur Tirsun Edueational Shabbat hon oring our eommunity edueators, whieh this year will be integrated into our Congregational Shabbat morning serviee. On Saturday evening, our eher- ished rabbis of the past will lead us in a diseussion and moving Havdalah eeremony from 5-6 PM. Building upon their strengths, the program will be entitled “Rabbi Barras and Rabbi Streiffer Clas- sie: Wine and Song, Flumor and Warmth.” This Weekend of Lifelong Learning is eo-ehaired by Barbara Temple Beth El Presents Its 16th Annual Comparative Religion Series After Life: A Beginning or An End? Tuesday Evenings, January 22- February 26 Can one’s status ehange during the After Life? Are there rewards and punishments during After Life for your aetions in this life? People of all faiths ask these uni versal questions, whieh are just two of the eompelling questions we will address as part of Temple Beth El’s 16th Annual Compara tive Religion Series.
