Main Event Brings Community Together
Event co-chairs Adam and Wendy Petricoff welcomed more than 500 people to
The 2013 Main Event featuring A.J. Jacobs, journalist, humorist, editor-at-large of
Esquire Magazine and author of three New York Times bestsellers. The crowd loved
A.J.’s intelligent and witty remarks which highlighted his mind, body, and spirit ex
periments. During a beautiful dessert reception, A.J. Jacobs signed copies of A Year
of Living Biblically and Drop Dead Healthy.
Donors who pledged at the event made a world of difference for the 2013 Annual
Campaign which benefits Jews in need at home in Charlotte, in Israel, and in over
70 countries around the world. With their generous support, the Jewish Federation
raised over $200,000 for the Annual Campaign. Attendees also responded enthusias
tically to a generous one-time $20,000 matching gift opportunity presented by Lori
and Eric Skint to match new gifts and increases dollar-for-dollar.
Fernando Ycaza, Vice President of NCBT, drew the winning raffle tickets
for Shalom Park Bucks. Winners were Stacy Gorelick, Ellen Waldman, and Lori
Skint.
