In recognition of tlie 65tli An niversary of tlie birtli of tlie State of Israel, the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte and the Char lotte Jewish community are offer ing special programs throughout 2013. Engagement with Israel plays a significant and critical role in both forming and sustaining Jewish identity. On a personal level, Is rael engagement generates a sense of belonging to the Jewish people and with that, a sense of collective responsibility. By connecting our local Jewish community to our global family, heritage and Home land, we ensure a thriving Jewish future and a strong Israel for gen erations to come. Throughout 2013, we will be enhancing our current programs and holidays with more creative and innovative opportunities for connection to Israel; assembling a variety of speakers to educate and inform us on current events rele vant to the Jewish people and Is rael; holding workshops and seminars for our professionals to explore cutting edge ways to en gage with Israel, celebrating Yom Ha’Atzmaut; and traveling to Is rael at the end of the year. The second video was “Israeli Street Food,” a video by go4israel.com that contrasts the street food vendors in Israel to American fast food.
