the things we love about eamp, the
proof is in the words of our fami

your ehild off with a smile and
pieking up with an even bigger
one”
“We were there last year and
we’re so exeited to do it again!”
“My daughter had a blast!”
“All the staff are really earing
and work well with the kids.”

The end of a fun day at camp.
“We love the aetivities, the
teaehers and the faet that we know
she is safe, well taken eare of and
has a niee balanee of indoor and
outdoor play time. Terrifie eamp!”
We are so exeited to begin
eamp for the 2013 year. We bring
in outside speeialists to enhanee
the kids day. Last year, the ehil-
dren loved having gymnasties, art,
and even visiting llamas. With our
hot Charlotte summers, water play
is a must for eamp as well. The
kids splash around in the kiddie
pools, run through the sprinklers

Wunderkinder Wins
Audience Award at C JFF,
Festival Wins BOB Award
Another ehapter of the Char
lotte Jewish Film Festival is in the
books, and as over 3,400 attendees
ean attest, it was the best ever.
There were an unpreeedented five
sellouts this year. Musie, food, and
speakers were added bonuses to
these fantastie films that left the
audienees at times laughing and
erying, but always thinking. All
the films were exeellent, but only
one eould be given the distinetion
of Audienee Favorite. The Audi-
enee Award winner for the 9th An
nual Charlotte Jewish Film
Festival was Wunderkinder, the
moving story of three ehild prodi
gies whose innoeent worlds are
turned upside down by World War
II. This is another feather in the
eap for this wonderful movie that
has also garnered praise from the
Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San
Diego Jewish Film Festivals.
Onee again, the Charlotte Jew
ish Film Festival has been reeog-
nized as the Best of the Best by the
readers of Charlotte Magazine.
For the seeond year in a row, the
CJFF took home the BOB Award
for Film Festival/series. This pres
tigious honor is a refieetion of the
great esteem in whieh the CJFF is
held by the Charlotte arts eommu-
nity. We look forward to bringing
award-winning international films
to Charlotte for many years to
eome. Let’s go for the “threepeaf ’
in 2014.
As we prepare for the 10th An
nual Charlotte Jewish Film Festi
val, Festival Direetor Jeff Turk,
who has done an amazing job
leading the Festival the last two
years, will pass the baton to Riek
Willenzik. Riek has been the Fes
tival eurator for the last two years,
working hard to eull through hun
dreds of films to seleet the best
slate for the CJFF. Riek is sure to
eontinue the tradition of exeel-
lenee that Jeff and previous
Festival Direetor Jodi Werner-
Greenwald have established.
Many thanks and kudos to Jeff,
and best of luek to Riek.
Bringing a high quality event
like the Film Festival to the Char
lotte eommunity is a monumental
task that requires a lot of hard
work by a lot of wonderful volun
teers. Thanks again to the legions
of people who help to bring the
Charlotte Jewish Film Festival to
fruition year after year. If you
would like to volunteer for the up-
eoming Festival, please eontaet us
at info@charlottejewishfilm.eom.
The Charlotte Jewish Film Fes
tival is brought to you by the
Levine JCC and the Charlotte
Chapter of Fladassah, and is made
possible, in part, with funding by
the Jewish Federation of Greater
Charlotte, the Arts & Science
Council and the North Carolina
Arts Council, an agency of the De
partment of Cultural Resources,
and the National Endowment for
the Arts, which believes that a
great nation deserves great art.
The Charlotte Jewish Film Fes
tival is looking for volunteers with
interest and experience in the fol
lowing areas: Grant writing, spon
