I I t I The 16th Annual Spring Lec ture sponsored by the Women’s Division of the Jewish Federa tion of Greater Charlotte was held on Thursday, March 27 and featured Ruth Reichl, world- renowned food critic and for mer editor in chief of Gourmet magazine. Ruth spoke to a full house of over 350 women and shared her amusing tales and memorable experiences as a restaurant critic as well as her remarkable reflections on the culinary world today. The event was co-chaired by Randi Lan and Stacey Schan- zlin who led a very talented and dedicated team of volunteers which included Talli Dippold, Sara Kulbersh, Mallory Miller, Elaine Moody, Debbie Porter, Jenny Rosenthal, Lori Rosen thal, Stephanie Townsend, and Marisa Zeibert. The committee not only worked on the overall planning of the event, but also on securing sponsorships to un derwrite the cost of the event. While this year’s Spring Lecture maintained some of its classic elements, it also incor porated some new features such as our Strolling Dinner that al lowed women to mingle while enjoying a variety of scrump tious food catered by Melanie Rowe Catering. Randi Lan and Stacey Schan- zlin welcomed everyone and were joined on the bimah by Gail Baron, Tracy Brown, and Jill Halverstam, who shared sto ries of favorite dishes that con nected them to their Jewish roots and traditions. As they re visited the enticing smell of Gizzy’s Paprikish, mouthwater ing brisket roasted with apples, or a bag of “ruggies” cooked to perfection in Nana’s kitchen, all five women nostalgically re turned to the places they called home. Each story reflected their commitment to Jewish life and community, which fueled their motivation and involvement with the Jewish Federation.
