Saying Good-bye Again
By Dedee Goldsmith,
Director, Jewish Preschool
on Sardis
The end of the sehool year
is always bittersweet for me
as a parent, as a teaeher and
in a unique way, as a diree-
tor. It’s a time of year when
we eolleetively sigh a breath
of relief. Sehedules lighten
up, goals have been aeeom-
plished and days are growing
longer. Apparently I’m quite
a refleetive person, as I use
this time of year to look baek
on how the sehool year went.
Did the teaehers aeeomplish
elassroom goals? Did ehildren
grow in the manner we’ve ex-
peeted? What obstaeles did we en-
eounter? What did we learn this
year for the eoming sehool year?
The Jewish Presehool on
Sardis had quite a sueeessful year.
We’ve sueeessfully renewed our
Shaina, Ian, and Ruby celebrating the 100th day
of school
North Carolina Five-Star Lieense,
weleomed over several new fam
ilies to the JPS family, exeeeded
our Annual Campaign goals for
the year and are exeited about
planning for the future. Saying
goodbye as our 4s as we send
them off to Kindergarten eauses
us to refleet upon how the ehil-
Seheeis
dren have grown, this year
and sinee they’ve enrolled in
sehool. Some kids have lost
baby teeth. Many learned to
write their name. They’ve
learned to eount to 100 (and
many even higher). One
group now knows how to
identify over 10 different
speeies of birds.
For our youngest group,
they’ve sueeessfully transi
tioned to the sehool environ
ment and routines of sehool.
They’ve learned many new
words in English and Flebrew.
It’s been wonderful to wateh
them learn to share, to be kind to
one another and to develop friend
ships that will last a lifetime.
They say a pieture is worth a
thousand words, so here are a few
of our favorite moments from
this past year. Wishing all a fun
and safe summer.
Spaees available for summer
eamp and sehool this fall. Call

found satisfaetory answers. At a
minimum, the Yeshiva will allow
people to delve in to the famed
Talmudie logie and explore pas
sages of the Torah with its rieh
eommentary, all in the original
text.
As an additional ineentive, the
Talmud teaehes that the 15th of
the Flebrew month of Av is the
date eaeh year when the days start
getting shorter and the nights
begin inereasing in length. The
Talmud gives a blessing to those
who utilize the long nights to in-
erease their Torah study, with the
blessing of long life.

Av, whieh eorresponds to Sunday,
