Hadassah Hospital has been treat ing several of those wounded over the last few weeks. An IDF soldier was reeovering after having been shot twiee at elose range by a terrorist near the underpass to Mount Seopus. In the intensive eare unit, the parents, sister and friends of Chen Sehwartz, 19, were visiting. Chen’s mother eommented: “Please pass on my thanks to the Hadassah women and support ers abroad who have ereated this wonderful hospital. We have no il lusions: Without them, our son would have died. He’s a strong boy, and with God’s help and Hadassah’s, he’s going to make it.” - Miri Sehwartz Led by Hadassah National President, Mareie Natan a solidar ity delegation flew to Israel on July 27 for a brief, but intense, tour of speeifie areas in Israel af feeted by Operation Pro- teetive Edge. Charlotte assoeiate Noah Goldman joined the delegation for a life-ehanging experienee. We are so proud of Noah for bravely representing Charlotte in the mission. The mission viewed the installation of the Iron Dome in Ashdod, where they were told, “As Amer- ieans you ean be proud that your government finan- eially supported and helped develop the Iron Dome. You are our fifth flank.” The group traveled to the Knesset, where they were briefed by MK Gila Gamliel, member of the Finanee Committee. At the end of the day, the group visited with Israel’s newly in stalled tenth President, Reuven “Ruby” Rivlin and his wife Neehamah. He was so pleased to be weleoming the Hadassah mis sion, reporting that he strongly be lieved in the Organization of Hadassah women in the United States and thanked them all for their eontribution in ereating the health system in Israel. Meir Shfeyah Youth Village, hosting over 25 families from the south, moving from the intensity of the Hamas bombing to the serenity of the north, met and thanked the group sineerely for their respite. Hadassah has eommitted to plant a tree in memory of eaeh fallen soldier during this eurrent erisis. The group planted the first trees in memory of the fallen sol diers of Operation Proteetive Edge in the Hadassah grove at the KKL/JNF Be’er Sheva River Park. National President Mareie Natan and Israeli President Reuven Rivlin along with other Hadassah delegates ineluding Noah Gold man from Charlotte The group then met with moth ers from the Be’er Sheva area whose sons are in the army. One response was, “I live on my phone, eheeking for news and telephone ealls, to be sure all is well.” The Hadassah Solidarity Mis sion visited Hadassah Ein Kerem visiting the wounded soldiers end ing the mission. The doetor treated Lulai when he was wounded in Gaza. Mareie Natan was there to share the emo tional moment. HA DAS SAH Charlotte Chapter of Hadassah 2015 Board - Nomination and Elections We are pleased to announee that the proeess to eleet 2015 board has begun. The Nomination Committee Chair was seleeted during the June board meeting. Members of the nomination eommittee are: Heidi Rotberg, Toby Ruda, Margie Sigal, and Hadas Kasher (Chair). The Nom ination Committee has started working during the month of Au gust. Nominations for the 2015 ex- eeutive board positions are now being aeeepted.
