I Staci and Darren Mond;ST®RK Staci and Darren Mond are among the 248 individuals and families in our community who have created 489 unique legacy gifts to support its future. Please take the time to read their story and thank them for their generos ity. It is our hope that you will be inspired and encouraged to think about how you can create your own Jewish legacy. By Staci Mond Darren grew up in Charlotte and has been aetively involved in its Jewish eommunity all his life. His parents, Irving and Rita, were raised in religious households and were very aetive in the Charlotte Jewish eommunity. He attended Temple Israel for presehool, reli gious sehool, and his Bar Mitz- vah. Whereas I grew up in Wiehita, KS, and was fortunate to be involved in my Conservative synagogue. My parents, Jerrold and Barbara, grew up with a strong eommitment to Jewish eommunity life. Having role mod els like our parents, it was easy for Darren and me to jump in and be- eome aetive with our family on Shalom Park. We were married at Temple Is rael where our ehildren’s naming and bris eeremonies took plaee. Our family is deeply rooted in the many aetivities at the Levine Jew ish Community Center. The Char lotte Jewish Presehool provided our ehildren an exeellent eduea- tional foundation for Jewish life. The temples provide us with our spiritual guidanee while Jewish Family Serviees provides eommu nity outreaeh to those in need. Through the years, Charlotte’s Jewish eommunity has been a great souree of joy, eomfort, and support, espeeially with the deaths of our parents. We have experi- eneed many milestones and are looking forward to joyful simehas ineluding the Bat and Bar Mitz- vahs of our ehildren. We often ask ourselves, what would we do without all the Jew ish aetivities for our kids in Char lotte? It is important to us to keep them engaged so they grow up to lead produetive, healthy lives with a firm Jewish identity. To this en deavor we stay very aetive with many organizations on Shalom Park and expose our ehildren to a variety of opportunities. We keep them involved with religious and eultural events throughout the year. For us, leaving a legaey gift is a way of saying thank you and en suring that our ehildren (and hopefully their ehildren) will eon- tinue to have a plaee that helps foster their Jewish identity. Even if our ehildren deeide to leave Charlotte, we are happy knowing we have made a differenee in our Jewish eommunity. Leaving a legaey gift is an exeellent way for us to help sustain a sound Jewish eommunity to support future gen erations. We appreeiate all the things that have been provided for us by others and want to do our part so that our ehildren and oth ers ean have the same Jewish ex- perienees in the years to eome. ^ Our Jewish Community’s Newest Legacy Donors The following individuals/families have reeently informed our eom munity, through Foundation for the Charlotte Jewish Community (FCJC) or one of the ten Create Your Jewish Legaey eommunity part ners, that they have ereated a legaey gift to support the future of Char lotte’s Jewish eommunity. Some are ereating legaey gifts for the first time while others have added new organizations to their previously ere ated legaey plans. There are now 248 individuals/families throughout our Jewish eommunity who have ineluded a loeal Jewish organization in their legaey plans ereating 489 unique legaeies. We thank our newest legaey donors and weleome them into our eommunity’s Book of Life Soeiety. ^ Laura and Marc Lewin Marcia and Paul Simon Eric and Joanna Wisotsky Create ' 'ou^ewisn Le^ac^ a' Jewish War Veterans Meet in Charlotte Are you a Jewish veteran living in the greater Meeklenburg area?
