The 75th Anniversary and Main Event will be held on Thursday, Deeember 11 at 7:30 PM at the Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts. Often ealled the Bmee Spring steen of Israel, David Broza is one of the most dynamie singer-song- writer instrumentalists in the world. Multiplatinum Israeli ieon David Broza has won the hearts of audienees with magnetie perform- anees and soulful lyries. His vir- tuosie guitar playing fuses Israeli, Spanish, and English musieal in- fluenees; his flameneo rhythms blend with intrieate roek-and-roll finger pieking. His enduring ea- reer has been defined by over 25 sueeessful albums and numerous awards. The son of an Israeli/British businessman and a folk singer, Broza was bom in Haifa, Israel (where his grandfather founded an Arab-Israeli settlement), and was raised and edueated in England and Spain. Broza originally planned to beeome a graphie artist, and by age 17, was selling his paintings in the Rastro, Madrid’s famous Sunday flea market. However, after high sehool graduation, he was drafted into a three-year term in the Israeli military. Stationed away from family and friends, he began play ing guitar in eafes to earn extra money, and was eventually of fered a reeord deal. Sinee he hoped to attend the Rhode Island Sehool of Design, he deelined. He later reeorded a tape to promote his live shows. “Somehow, one of the songs beeame a #1 hit in Is rael,” he explains. At age 21, he was a star, and by age 27 he was being mobbed by fans in the street as his reeordings went triple plat inum. David Broza’s 1994 and 1999 live eoneerts reeorded at the top of Masada resulted in platinum al bums; while his Spanish language release, “Isla Mujeres,” gained him superstar reeognition in Spain. His most reeent album “East JemsalemAVest Jemsalem” reeorded in English and released in 2014 promotes a lasting peaee between Israelis and Palestinians. Broza ereates a unique style of multi-eultural musieal blend, sung in poetie rhythms of three lan guages. He is a eaptivating, eom- pelling performer who masters his guitar into submission.
