The Charlotte Jewish News - January 2015 - Page 12 Reunion at Wildacres - August 17, 2014 WORK WITH A LEADER IN CHARLOTTE REAL ESTATE Executive Realty 704-926-2544 office 704-975-8500 cell www.LepowRealtors. com ■0 Steve "H'Lepow LEADING TH E WAY TO YOUR SUCCESS At the end of these unforget table reunions, all the attendees embraeed while singing “Shalom Haverim ... Lehitraot.” Our arms trembled with emo tion by the living experienees and the hopes that we all expressed for a happy new year and the wishes to meet again. This whole atmosphere was maintained during the journeys by the realization of a very high level program. This was due to the gen erous efforts of the direetors of the Yiddish Institute that made these aetivities possible and very re warding for the soul. We were bom with the Yiddish language and we want to maintain the eontinuity of our old eulture. We have found it in the musie, in the words, in the verses, and the prayers that we enjoy in this plaee that is so elose to heaven and in whieh we feel the spirit of broth erhood that the Yiddish language foments. It is unique. The poems that our dear friend Abraham Luski reeited and the his stories narrated in our language MANN TRAVELS 3gH ANNIVERSARY Join us January 24 'vy 11am-4pm ^ at the Charlotte Convention Center our Travel & Cruise Show and tell us why YOU travel! 800-343-6266 For more info call www.MannTravels.com Insurance for Home, Tiuto, Business and Life, I. NC 28207 704.333.6694 WWW, swimmerinsurance.com brought many a tear to those that were there. They also brought laughter and a remembranee of our aneestors that today are treas ures that we want to eonserve with all their worth. Save The Date The 37th Annual Yiddish Institute August 13-16, 2015 The committee is meeting to pian another institute fiiied with “yiddiskite." There was mueh emotion brought on by the enthusiasm of the songs and the stories of the “shtetl” by Anita and Roberto Wa- jner. They brought a breeze of the past that we will eontinue to pass on to those that follow us. The musieal group of Gene and Ah Kavadlo with their elarinet and violin and Dr. Pesaeh Nitsehe on the piano, three “virtuosos” that maintain our musie with their in terpretations of Klezmer and shtetl at an unbeatable level. It was a de light for our hearts to be able to witness the enormous depth of these artists. This was something very diffieult to find in other events. Also of importanee was the eontribution made by the Strauss/Warsehauer Duo. It reere- ated the aneient values of our peo ple with their songs. They were able to inspire the partieipation of the audienee in the aetivity that they portrayed. Those of us telling this aeeount eome from Uruguay, a South Ameriean eountry that is ten hours by airplane from Charlotte. Yet, we make this effort with great sat- isfaetion beeause we find the Jew ish spirit of unity is indestmetible. Those of us who are seattered in all the eomers of the world are united by our traditions and by our eommandments. Through the pas sage of time, they have maintained us as a people with our prayers, our languages of Yiddish, Hebrew, and Ladino, keeping the “Shab- bat” with all its meaning and all its respeet to our biblieal preeepts. The “Chazan,” the readers of the Torah and the Haftorah of the weekly parseha made us feel the spiritual elevation of keeping the “Shabbat.” Married eouples that eame from the states, Cuba, and Uruguay made this festival better with their presenee. This shows how our parents who emigrated from distant shores formed eom- munities that eonserve our anees- tral values. It is also important to say that several of those that were absent were greatly missed. These ineluded: Baila Pransky, Pearl and Ralph Kier, Gisela and Alberto Luski, and Benjy and Hilda Peljovieh, and others that we wait for their reintegration with health and blessings. It is diffieult to explain with words the gathering in the eanteen at nights. With the freedom of the informal, eaeh one demonstrated their friendship and tried to demonstrate with their statements and songs the love and happiness felt by all. This only happens when the happiness is authentie and when we would like this mo ment to last forever. All this remained engraved on our souls as we voieed the words of parting at the end of this jour ney to Wildaeres, organized by the Charlotte Yiddish Institute. They will remain eternally engraved be eause of our existing spirit that re turns to our homes so enriehed. ^ Moishe House Charlotte Start your year off right by at tending a Moishe House event.
