In Deeember, we got together to learn how to make some jew elry with a theme of Jewish art and eulture. It was a great after noon to just be together and eele brate the upeoming Hanukkah holiday. Our Hanukkah party, whieh took plaee on Deeember 21, was full of family fun and festivities. We lit menorahs, ate latkes, played dreidel, as well as several other games, and even had a trivia quiz on the history of the holiday. Now that we have moved into January, we are looking forward to even more gatherings. On January 10, Havurat Tikvah will host eommunity Shabbat serviees. These will take plaee at Avondale Chureh (2821 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209) at 10 AM. For more information, please feel free to eontaet us at 980-225- 5330. Later this month, our eongrega tion will also host an Israeli eom- edy night, with movies, laughter, and entertainment. In the spring of 2015, we are hoping to have even more events that bring the eongregation to gether and eelebrate our Jewish eulture and heritage. Lynne Sheffer, President of Temple Israel, said, “Our primary goal is to strengthen relationships within the Temple Israel eommu nity and throughout the greater Jewish and Charlotte eommuni- ties. A great way to do so is by performing aets of loving kind ness, together.” On Yom Gemilut Chasadim, we will be working on projeets that provide support to: Jewish Family Serviees, Israel, Bright Blessings, Blessings In A Baek Paek, The Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, Women’s Shelter, Room in the Inn, Operation Sandwieh, Ronald MeDonald House, Sunrise and Carriage Club, Shalom Bayit NC, Huntingtowne Farms Elementary Sehool, and Temple Israel Soeial Aetion. Jonathan Berger, Chairman of Soeial Aetion for Temple Israel, said “Our goal during Yom Gemi lut Chasadim is to bring together the entire Temple Israel eommu nity to perform hands on, experi ential, and impaetful mitzvot linked to Jewish values.
