ADVERTISEMENT ■T I temple Israel Temple Israel Welcomes New Executive Director Temple Israel welcomes Glenda Bernhardt as Temple Israel's new Executive Director, effective June i, 2015. Having worked in senior positions with high protile non-profits for more than 12 years, Glenda brings a wealth of leadership, management and fund develop ment experience. Most recently, she served as Senior Development Officer for Teen Health Connection and Development Director for the Junior League of Charlotte, Both positions required strong leadership, setting strategic direction, working with board of trustees, and cultiva tion of volunteers, donors and coi*porate partnerships. Her fund development responsibilities included events, planned giving, capital campaigns and grant writing. Earlier in her career, Glenda served as coordinator of recruit ment and admissions for the Honors College at Virginia Commonwealth University, Community Relations Manager for the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond and Assistant Director at University of MaiyJand Hillel and Jewish Student Life Coordinator at St. Louis Hillel at Washington University- Many people in the community already know Glenda from the leadership roles she has held and currently holds within Shalom Park. She currently serves as a Vice President of tire Board of Directors for the Levine Jewish Community Center and she previously chaired the Community Relations Council for our Federation. Glenda, Brian and their three children are active members of Temple Israel. “As a Rabbi's daughter, I love congregational life,” says Glenda. “With its rich 120 year histoiy. Temple Israel remains committed to religious education, youth, young professionals, and social action. I am thrilled by this opportunity to serve the Temple, and look forward to working with the congregation, the dedicated staff, and our Shalom Park partners. Together, we will build upon our strong and solid foundation to benefit, not only our Temple family, but the greater Jewish community for years to come.” Glenda earned a Masters Degree in Social Work and Certifi cate in Jewish Communal Services and Judaic Studies from the University of Michigan. Glenda holds a BA in Psychology, Sociology and Anthropolog>' from Ohio Wesleyan Universiw. The Board of Temple Israel thanks Monica McDaniel for serving as the Interim Executive Director for the past seven months. Her proven leadership and extensive business acumen helped to address the Temple’s strategic priorities and guided the congregation through this time of transformation. In May, Rabbi Ezring announced that Rabbi Rancher, holding an M.Ed. from Fingerhut School of Pklured: Rabbi Noam Randier. ASsSOciate Rabbi and blduaiLion Direcior, 'i’emple Israel Religious Sdiool (TIRS): Jessie Brinsfield, Events/Program Director; Glenda Bernhardt, Temple Israel Execulive Director; and Ariel DiDonato. Youth/Young Adult Engagement Director and Assistant to Education Director (TIRS). Education (AJU) will lead Temple Israel Religious School, in addition to his other duties. With the announcement, Rabbi Ezring cited Rabbi Rancher’s “love of Judaism, his creativity, his enthusiasm” and his grounding in Jewish education, among his qualifications. Rabbi Ezring shared, “Ariel DiDonato, who will assist in guiding the Religious School, has reinvigorated the Temple's Youth with creative programming, reorganization and has grown the number of participants.” She holds a Postgraduate Degree in Middle Grades Education from UNC Chapel Hill. Temple Israel also welcomes Jessie Brinsfield as the Temple’s new Events Program Director. Jessie looks foi'ward to working with B’Nai Mitzvah families and others planning special events and celebrations.
