Last summer’s success
ful launch of Charlotte’s
Summer Yeshiva at Ohr
HaTorah was received
well beyond expectations.
Local members of the
greater Charlotte Jewish
community were invited
to experience a genuine
day or evening in a tradi
tional Yeshiva setting. The
Yeshiva was led by a
group of Yeshiva students
who chose to spend their
some of their summer
days here in Charlotte.
Many people took advantage of
the opportunity and the sound of
Torah study filled the Lubavitch
Education Center on Sardis Road.
Due to last year’s success the
doors of the summer Yeshiva are
ready to reopen again. Beginning
on Sunday evening, August 9,
continuing through August 20,
there will be a mini-Yeshiva right
here in Charlotte, again at Congre
gation Ohr HaTorah, 6619 Sardis
Road.
Led by some of our own home
grown Yeshiva students and their
peers from the US and Canada,
From Lubavitch Yeshiva 2014.
there will be a series of classes
available both in the evening and
during the daytime. Topics offered
will include a Crash Course on
Jewish History, Talmud and Jew
ish Law, Kabbalah, and much
more.
Men and women will be able to
attend various sessions, as well as
set up private study with a partner,
known in the Yeshiva world as
Chavrusa study. These sessions
will be set up by appointment, or
even as walk-ins, schedule permit
ting.
One of the many benefits of
this project is to allow
local community members
to experience and feel the
atmosphere of a Yeshiva,
with ongoing study ses
sions simultaneously
throughout the study hall.
In addition, participants
will have the opportunity
to search for answers to all
those challenging ques
tions that may have been
unanswered until now.
Most importantly, they
will delve in to the logic of
the Talmud, study the pas
sages of the Torah with commen
tary, all in the original text.
To see all the offerings, request
a topic, or sign up for specific
courses, please visit chabadnc.org
after July 1, or call 704-366-3984.

Shlomo Cohen at: rabbicohen@

Five years ago, a few Jews in

“My father, Harry, founded Swimmer Insurance Agency over 60 years ago offering
security to the community and helping families through times of trouble. Today, we con
tinue that tradition of service with everything we do. We will be there for every mile
stone, every hardship and every transition your family or business experiences.”
- DAVID SWIMMER
Jews all over the world have
been doing for thousands of
years - they found each other
and formed Temple Kol Ami.
On June 4, 2010, Temple Kol
Ami commenced its first
Shabbat service and has been
going strong ever since. Together
we have observed Rosh HaShanah
and Yom Kippur, celebrated
Chanukah and Purim, shared in
the joy of our B’nei Mitzvah as
they were called to Torah and
commemorated Yom Ha’Shoah.
In the process, we have solidified
our identity as Jews and forged
strong friendships. On June 7, we
will come together to celebrate all
that we have achieved in just five
short years.
Kol Ami means “All My Peo
ple.” Temple Kol Ami of Fort
Mill, SC strives to be a voice for
the diverse Jewish community of
York County, SC and the sur
rounding areas, welcoming fami
lies and individuals from all walks
of Jewish life. We are a warm and
inclusive congregation comprised
of Jews from more traditional
backgrounds, interfaith couples
and families as well as those who
may be rediscovering their faith.
As a community we celebrate and
embrace the joys of Judaism
through ritual, culture and a thriv
ing Religious School.
If you are a Jew living in the
York County area, please consider
joining Temple Kol Ami. As we
continue to build our congrega
tion, we hope that it will bring you
the sense of Jewish community
that you have been searching for.
We want to be able to provide a
congregation that embraces tradi
tion and recognizes the needs of a
modem Jewish community- a
place that you can call your Jew
ish home.
There are benefits to member
ship such as reduced fees for the
Religious School as well as High
Holiday services and Passover
Seder. In addition. Temple Kol
Ami provides a place for your
Jewish life cycle events. We look
forward to welcoming you to the
TKA family. ^
