The Charlotte Jewish News - October 2015 - Page 7 Moishe House Events in October Moishe House is a non profit organization dedieated to promoting eommunity among Jewish young adults in their twenties and early thir ties. Moishe House looks to fill the void that often exists after graduating eollege and prior to settling down. The organization brings together groups of three to five Jewish adults who live to gether and plan loeal programs, both home-based and external, for other young Jewish adults. There are eurrently 76 Moishe Houses in 18 eountries around the world. Moishe House Charlotte began in August 2013 and sinee then has hosted 130+ events ranging from serviee projeets to soeial events to Jewish learning and more. We are always happy to see new and re turning faees, so be sure to join us. We are pleased to share with you our exeiting events for this Oeto- ber: Historic Rural Hill Maze - Saturday, Oetober 3 at 2 PM at Historie Rural Hill, 4431 Neek Road, Huntersville, NC. Spend the afternoon with Moishe House as we weave our way through a maze. The maze is set up so that you have to find map pieees so that you literally build the map to find your way out. We will wander through it together, and enjoy the beautiful seenery and outdoors. The maze takes about an hour to eomplete, and the eost of admission is $11. Make sure to bring your walkin’ shoes and a water bottle. IflL A Night out iu Noda - Satur day, Oetober 10 at 7:30 PM in NoDa Our Moishe House friend has graeiously offered his home for us to gather in NoDa. Not only is he generous, he is also a grill master. We will meet there for dinner and drinks and then hit the town for a night at some of Charlotte’s best bars. Pumpkins and Privilege - Tuesday, Oetober 13 at 7 PM at Moishe House, Charlotte It’s that time of year again when Trader Joe’s deeides it’s time for every single thing that ean be pumpkin-flavored is pump kin-flavored. So, to ensure that they are not super wasteful with pumpkin flair, we are going to max out our budget on as mueh pumpkin-flavored food and drink that we ean. Onee the pumpkin-in- dueed sugar high wears off, a meaningful diseussion about the idea of being Jewish and privi leged will take plaee. Newcomer Social - Thursday, October 15 from 7-9 PM at the Piedmont Social House Are you new in town? New to Jewish life in Charlotte? Looking to re-enter the Jewish community? Come join Torah on Tap and the Charlotte Moishe House at the Piedmont Social House in South Charlotte for a fun evening of food, drink, bowling, foosball, darts, ping pong, pool, shuffle- board, and new friends. Intergenerational Shabbat - Friday, October 23 at 7:30 PM at Moishe House Charlotte Bring your family and friends of all ages to our house for a spe cial Shabbat dinner celebration. We will provide the main course, but please bring a side dish or drink to share. We are currently raising money for our annual We Are campaign, which helps us to host events throughout the year. A $5-10 donation is recommended (but not required) for this event. Please go to the website if you would like to donate. Spooky Snacks and a Scary Movie - Thursday, October 29 at 7 PM at Moishe House Charlotte Come and get Halloween fes tivities started early by watching a few of your scariest movies. It’s always better to watch thrillers in a group, so get ready to jump, scream and shake the night away. Don’t miss out on the tun.
