Charlotte’s Business Community Supports the
Levine JCC Capital Campaign
Lessons from Honi and the
Carob Tree are alive and well in
the current LJCC capital cam
paign: JBuild. Just as this beauti
ful Talmudic tale teaches us to
consider future generations...so
does our commitment to provide
and “planf ’ for future generations.
The campaign is building a
foundation for our community’s
future and the results have been
remarkable so far: $750,000 in
vestment in Camp Mindy, more
than $150,000 in improvements to
JBUILD
If Sot For
the fitness complex; including a
new sport court in the Pavilion, a
new floor in the David Silverman
Fitness center and JForce room,
and a renovated second floor
dance studio.
The generous donations from
LJCC members, Shalom Park
supporters, and community mem
bers are having a stagger
ing impact. Thanks to
^ everyone that has partiei-
pated in the eampaign
sinee its launeh in 2014,
our dreams of an updated faeility
for eurrent and future JCC fami
lies are being realized.
The eampaign has also re
ceived significant support from
our Charlotte business eommunity
and the LJCC is thrilled to an-
nounee the support of Bank of
Ameriea at the Grand Benefaetor
level ($100,000 - $249,000) and
the Wells Fargo Foundation at the
Grand Patron level ($40,000 -
$59,000). As both of these gifts
were received prior to the conelu-
sion of 2015, they will be doubled
through the generous mateh pro
vided by the Levine Sklut fami
lies. Bank of Ameriea and the
Wells Fargo Foundation, pillars in
our business community,
share our deep commit
ment to the role that the
Levine JCC serves in our
community, they believe
in our mission, and their
philanthropic leadership is
a sign of their eommit-
ment to see our impact on
Charlotte strengthened.

elated when Bank of Ameriea and
the Wells Fargo Foundation com
mitted to the campaign, and she
noted, “My ehildren grew up at
the LJCC ... and many of their
friends today are still the ones
they made in Hoopsters, micro
soccer, or just hanging out at the
pool. I want that same opportunity
for the next generation. I feel
strongly about this campaign be
cause just as past generations
created a plaee to shape my J
story, ... I want to ensure there
are future stories to be told.
These stories will be possible
due to the generosity of our
LJCC members, Shalom Park
supporters, and the support of
our Charlotte institutions like
Bank of Ameriea and the Wells
Fargo Foundation.”
Although close, the Cam
paign goal has yet to be
reached, and there is still time
for the entire eommunity to
partieipate. The impaet of your
pledges will be evident as we
update the locker rooms, ex
pand our fitness areas, and re
design our aquatics complex.
These exciting facility enhance
ments will begin this summer.
These changes will enhanee
everyone’s experienee and give
new generations the opportunity
to meet, to gather and to form last
ing relationships. While we know
the physical changes are needed
on our 30-year-old campus - the
eampaign is much less about what
we are building than why we are
building it.
The eurrent J members benefit
every day from the visionary lead
ership of a group of families
decades ago. They dreamed of
something special happening in
Shalom Park and it is our obliga
tion to eontinue that dream. We
must make sure that young fami
lies eontinue to see the LJCC as
their home away from home, that
more than 350 special Olympians
continue to be served through our
Camp SOAR program, that more
than 6,500 publie school students
continue to be educated about the
Holocaust through our Butterfly
