Annual Tu biShvat and Moishe House Events for February
Tree Planting at Hebrew
Cemetery
By Mike Littauer, president,
Hebrew Cemetery Association
On Febraary 12, from 2-4 PM,
we will celebrate Tu biShvat at the
Hebrew Cemetery with our third
annual tree planting in coopera
tion with Trees Charlotte. We will
plant 50 trees as part of our ceme
tery beautification program and
commitment to increase the tree
canopy in Charlotte. We hope you,
your family, and your friends will
join with us at the Hebrew Ceme
tery on Statesville Road to cele
brate and contribute to the beauty
of our Cemetery. As always,
this is a family friendly event
so bring your children. Please use
the following link or call Sandra
Goldman at the cemetery office
to RSVP www.tfaforms.com/
458746.
This year our program will be
led by our community Shlicha,
Inbal Ozeri, who will share some
of her personal stories of growing
up in Israel where Tu biShvat is
Israel’s equivalent of Arbor Day.
Inbal is a wonderful part of our
community and 1 know you will
be entertained and educated with
her stories.
Our first 50 RSVPs will get a
free tee shirt commemorating the
event and will get to pick out and
take home a free tree from the
Trees Charlotte Tree Store that
will be on-site. Choices will in
clude three different evergreens,
Yoshino cherry trees, and some
oaks. This is a $700 value.
This is a fun day with a won
derful contribution to our ceme
tery and I encourage all that are
able to attend.
CJL and the Hebrew Cemetery
Create a Jewish Legacy or CJL
has become a critically important
part of our Jewish community’s
future and sustainability. I want to
take just a moment to thank our
donors who have endowed a CJL
gift to the Hebrew Cemetery so
generously and thoughtfully. I
also want to encourage those who
are thinking about a planned gift
to contact Sandra Goldman, our
Cemetery Director or Jill Blumen-
thal, our CJL Chairperson, and let
them take you through the bene
fits of CJL. Thank you. ^
