Drummer Weekend Coming
Charlotte's first leather/levi event
of national significance takes place
Saturday, May 31, at Park Center.
It's Carolina Drummer '86 at 8:30
p.m. The event has also been
named "The East Coast Mr. Drum
mer Contest" by Drummer maga
zine, which sponsors the national
Mr. Drummer Contest to be held this
year in June in San Francisco.
The Charlotte gay community
group Queen City Quordinators
(QCQ) is sponsoring Carolina Drum
mer as its first major fundraiser in an

want to do them
on a grand
scale. We were
tickled when
Drummer magazine gave us the
sanction to produce a regional pre
liminary to the national contest."
QCQ plans to produce a wildly
entertaining weekend tor May 31
and June 1.
After the Drummer contest con
cludes, the audience and contes
tants will be invited to The Scorpio
tor an all-night party. Atlanta dee-
jay Tom Johnson will play at the
party beginning about 3 a.m. in The
Scorpio's main dance room, and
continue until 8 a.m.
Those attending the party will be
asked to enter The Scorpio via the
VIP patio door, and will have ac
cess to the entire bar after entering.
Beginning at 1 a.m., only Drummer
partyers will have access to the VIP
Room.
Carolina Drummer contestants will
be judged in tour categories:
leather attire, jock strap, question-
and-answer, and fantasy, an often
erotic stage presentation.
In February when Drummer mag
azine first awarded the sanction to
QCQ, territory included the Caroli-
nas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi,
Louisiana, Tennessee, West Virginia,
Virginia and the District of Colum
