PAGE 8 Q-Notes ■ Aoril 1987 VeiY Special Guests Coming For Drummer IN liEliORIAM Scott Allison Charlotte's gay/lesbian commu nity has lost a friend, Scott Allison — the gruff and gold-hearted co-tounder of Tags, which opened in 1980 — died the night of March 21. He was 33. He had been ill with Legion naire's disease for seven weeks and had twice been hospitalized with the rare illness. The disease, a type of bacterial pneumonia which at tacks the lungs, causes violent sei zures. He died during a seizure. Among survivors are the man with whom Scott shared love, life, a home and work during the past few years; parents and siblings; and hundreds of lesbians and gay men who loved and greatly respected him. SM Leathers will also be in Charlotte May 1-3 when Charlotte's leather club. The Tradesmen, celebrate their anniver sary. A leather fashion show will be part of festivities at Charades on Thursday, May 14, at the roast for Butch Stevenson, Mr. Carolina Drummer '86. The Drummer Leatherette Show opens the festive Drummer weekend at Scor pio on Wednesday, May 13, with female impersonators entertaining in leather. Then comes the May 14 roast and fash ion show at Charades; the May 15 Wel come Party at Brass Rail; an afternoon Cocktail Buffet Reception at Oleen's 4-7 p.m. May 16; the Carolina Drummer Contest at Park Center beginning with pre-pageant entertainment at 7;40 p.m. May 16; and the ManDance and Drum- merBoy Contest at a private site follow ing Carolina Drummer.
