‘Prick Up Your Ears’ At Manor
"Prick Up Your Ears," the biographical Joe Orton movie, begins July 3 at the
Manor Theater on Providence Road in Charlotte. The same theater in June
showed "Waiting for the Moon" about lesbian lovers Gertrude Stein and Alice
B. Toklas.
Orton, a gay English playwright, was killed in his prime 2D years ago by his
lover of 16 years, Ken HoHiwell, who felt more and more estranged from the
increasingly successful writer,
Orton was noted for brittle, funny plays Including "Loot" and "Entertaining
Mr. Sloane."

alism. That has to change immediately.
"We've already started by filling
some major positions on the board with
professional people — for instance, our
new secretary is Bob Johnson, manager
of Charades, who is very well qualified
for that and excited about taking that
on. We're talking with a CPA about
being treasurer.
"QCQ is here, is staying here, and has
some people who are really dedicated
to doing what it takes for the commu
nity. Our biggest asset is the people who
want to get something done.
"We've got goals which we will be
streamlining and defining a little more.
"We'd welcome anyone who wants to
get involved. 'They can call me or other
board members. And I'd like to thank
everyone who has supported QCQ in
the past. We're getting on track, and I
think people will be surprised by what
they see in the next few months."
When he's not working or helping
with QCQ, Yarbrough likes to get on his
bicycle and ride for miles. His other
passion is the world of finance.
"I used to really play with precious
metals — watch the market on them,"
he said. "I've owned some metal, made
some money, lost some money. And I
used to play the stock market a little bit.
I found out quickly that if you can't
afford to lose it, you shouldn't ploy.
"I enjoy the business world as a
whole. I'd love to own my own business
some, day."

Gay/Lesbian
Group Reactivated
A gay group on the Davidson College
campus has been reactivated.
A spokesman said the group plans to
try to get information into the first
1987-88 school year issue of the student
newspaper; hopes to publicize counsel
ing for gay and lesbian students at the
counseling center on campus; and will
try to come up with a plan for new
students.
"The faculty and staff are very willing
to help here (with gay students)," the
spokesman said.
Inquiries should be addressed to Sup
