SURF'S UP!
Charlotte's leather/levi club.
The Tzadesmen, will kick oil the
final month of summer with a ver
sion of Beach Blanket Bingo
called "It's A Bitch To Be Butch At
The Beach." The Friday, Aug. 7,
club night at the BR will feature a
rather revealing ton-line contest,
a jail night, a raffle and a special
dunking booth. As usual, there
won't be a dry seat in the house.
Join 'em at 9 p.m. for a wet and
wild evening. Bitch attire — make
that BEACH attire — is requested.
Frankie and Annette, by the way,
will not he attending.

Congratulations are in order!
The New Tribe, South Caroli
na's first gay/lesbian motorcycle
club, is having a great first year.
Members of the group better
known as TNT will be visiting
Charlotte for the Aug. 7 bash men
tioned above. TNT's own club
nights are held at Affairs in Co
lumbia on the third Friday of each
month.
A rubber can be a wonderful
thing, especially when it's played
between friends. That's the motto
behind the GLS Bridge Club here in
Charlotte. If you're a closet bridge fiend,
call 376-1490 and ask A1 to deal you in.
■ ■■
Charlotte Lambda Chorale rehears
als resume Wednesday, Aug. 19. First
performance of the season will be Sept.
12 for a cabaret show with dinner at
Charlotte's Unitarian Church. Cost will
be $5 — quite a low sum for an evening
of dining and fun!
■ ■■
Charlotte's Film Society plans no Au
gust meeting. But mark Sept. 18 on your
calendars. That's when viewings begin
again.
■ ■■
Omega, the Columbia organization
that sponsored the Celebration '87 pride
event for South Carolina, has changed
its name to the South Carolina Coalition
of Lesbians and Gay Men. Omega had
been incorrectly reported as a student
group at USC.
