Joan Miley Trio
Singer Songwriter Guitarist
Joan Miley spent her formative years in South
ern Pines, North Carolina, with her musically tal
ented fimiily. Her father is a songwriter, her motlier
and sister are singers and her younger brother
plays dnmis.
She picked up the guitar at age 12 and taught
herself to play Beatles’ tunes, following in the
footsteps of guitar-playing sister, Susan. Joan
vStarted writing music almost immediately and
during the interim played in a bluegrass band. She
will tell you that she has been inspired by many
artists but that the most influential were Joni
Mitchell, Rlckl Lee Jones, James Taylor and Joan
Armatrading.
Joan refers to her music as NEW FOLK... a semi-
blues style that is based aroimd words and music
that she has written. Her repertoire consists of well
over a hundred songs that will get you a-shuckin'
and a-jlvin' to Lathi rhytlims, rock n' roU, country,
reggae and love songs that will rhythmically puU at
yoiu heart strings!
Ciurently, tJoan resides in Charlotte, North
Carolina, and is performing with a bass guitarist, .
and a pcrcussionlst/background vocalist. You can
catch tliem playing at Manfred's each Wednesday
