G/L Film Series
begins 4th season
CHARLOTTE—The Charlotte Gay &
Lesbian Film Series, entering its fourth year
this month, announced its 1994 line-up. The
six presentations in this year’s schedule rep
resent the best in gay and lesbian films of the
year. This series will bring to the Carolinas
the rave films that are presently showing to
packed houses in New York, San Francisco
and Los Angeles. The 1994 series will run
for six months and screenings will be held at
the Spirit Square Center for the Arts, the
Mint Museum of Art and the Park Terrace
Theater.
The season opens on Friday, January 21,
with this year’s smash hit from the San
Francisco Lesbian and Gay Film Festival,
Being at Home with Claude. This suspense
thriller will leave audiences moved fi'om the
racing, pounding opening to the poignant
conclusion. This screening will be at 11:00
PM at the Park Terrace Theater.
The 1994 season will offer a diverse
variety of films that include both gay and
lesbian feature films as well as shorts, narra
tives and documentaries by American and
foreign filmmakers. This year’s series pre
sents films that offer serious social examina
tion, silty fim and sensual eroticism.
Season tickets are S23.00 and are avail
able at Rising Moon Books & Beyond in
Charlotte or by mailing a check to; G&L
Film Series, 428 East Park Ave., Charlotte,
NC 28203. Tickets at the door are $5 and
will be available on a first-come/first-serve
basis.

The Building Bridges Subcommittee of
the Charlotte Local Organizing Committee
for the June 1994 Gay Pride Weekend is
seeking members of the NC gay and lesbian
community to speak before civic organiza
tions, church groups and businesses. The
Subcommittee is currently searching for
speaking opportunities as a means of raising
awareness about the Weekend, and they
need your help. If you are comfortable
speaking in front of large groups and would
like to represent the gay and lesbian commu
nity, contact Building Bridges co-chair Chuck

Even before Gay Games IV has occurred,
The Federation of Gay Games has announced
that Amsterdam, The Netherlands will be the
site ofGayGames V in 1998. Bidstohostthe
event were received from Amsterdam, At
lanta and Sydney, and the ’98 Games mark
the first time they will be held off the North
American continent. The Federation has
also extended the deadline for nominations
forthe Tom WaddeU Award to April 1,1994.
Dr. Tom Waddell was the founder of the Gay
Games and nominees should be people who
have volunteerism that captures the spirit of
the games. Nominations and requests for

based in Charlotte, has announced a change
