The Charlotte Chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (P-FLAG) recently named their scholarship fund The Nila and Stokley Bailey-Parents Flag Schol arship Fund. The fund was named after the Baileys, who cofounded the local chapter, in recognition for all they have done on behalf of the gay commxmity over the past 25 years. The $1000 college scholarships are available to gay/lesbian/bisexual youth in Mecklenburg and surroimding counties. ONE VOICE, Charlotte’s gay and lesbian mixed chorus, will hold a memorial perfor mance called “Remembrance” on Saturday, March 26, 8:00 p.m., at Myers Park Baptist Church. Through music and meditation, ONE VOICE invites all to join them in remembering fiiends and loved ones who have passed through our lives. A special effort was made to choose music written by gay and gay-affirmative composers. Joining ONE VOICE will be members of the Char lotte Symphony, and the performance is free of charge. The Charlotte Business Guild is a rela tively new group (just over a year old) which provides members a method of professional and business networking. The group meets the third Monday of each month for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres or dinner, the place cho sen to provide privacy. The group does not actively participate in political activism or fundraising, and the membership ranges from corporate attomies to real estate brokers to sales persons. The Guild’s mission is to provide a professional atmosphere for busi ness and professional networking for gays and lesbians.
