And it’s that time of year again. While there are many variations on the theme, the hosting organization basically needs people who will hold dinner parties for their friends, asking their guests for a fman- cial donation in support of the ASO. There are no restrictions on the number of guests, the amount of the requested donation, the theme of the dinner party, nor any other detail. The object is to have fun and raise money for the ASO. Q-Notes is aware of several “dinner par ty” events well into the planning stages, and details on those follow. Contact your local ASO to see if one ofthese events is also being planned in your area. BURLINGTON, NC — Alamance CARES has scheduled its second “Dining For Friends With Friends” for April 16. The event is being coordinated by James Yeatts, and all of the hosts and guests are invited to a dessert reception at the Comfort Inn in Burlington after their individual dinners. “Hopefully, many of the people who at tended parties last year will host parties this year. To date we have 3 0 hosts committed to parties, but hope to have at least 50 parties lined up by the middle of March,” Yeatts said. Anyone interested in hosting or attending a dinner should contact James Yeatts at (910) 578-4766 or Alamance CARES at (910) 570- 5325. CHARLOTTE, NC — Metrolina AIDS Project has scheduled its fourth annual “Guess Who’sComingTo Dinner?” for May 14. All hosts and their guests are again invited to the First Union National Bank Atrium for des sert and entertainment after the dinner par ties. This year’s event has several added fea tures. For the first time, there will be a silent auction of 60 German Rosenthal plates cre ated by local and regional artists and celeb rities. Commemorative merchandise will be offered for sale at the dessert party. And those who wish to show off their culinary skills will have the opportunity to submit their recipe ideas to The Charlotte Observer to appear in the paper’s food section. In addition, the host and hostesses with the most innovative theme will be awarded a dinner for two at an area restaurant. Interested persons should plan to attend a host orientation party on March 15, 5:30- 8:00 p.m., in the Morrison Ballroom of the Park Hotel, 2200 Rexford Road in Charlotte. The party will feature wine, hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment. For more information, contact Metrolina AIDS Project, PO Box 32662, Charlotte, NC 28232; (704) 333-1435. GREENVILLE, NC — PICASO (Pitt County AIDS Service Organization) has scheduled their second “At Home With Friends” for the weekend of May 13-15. Rather than target a specific date, PICASO has selected a weekend to allow greater flexibility in what the hosts/hostesses offer their guests. In addition to dinner parties, the weekend is available for breakfasts, brunch es, afternoon cookouts, movie and popcorn parties, well, just about anything you can imagine. PICASO has host packets available to help plan your event. Stop by their offices or write to them at 223 W. Tenth St., Suite 113, Greenville, NC 27835 to obtain a copy or receive more information. You can also call Joe White (919) 752-2797 or the PICASO office at (919) 830-1660 for more details.
