neys (NC GALA) has announced its second
Continuing Legal Education course (CLE).
Abby Rubenfeld, former legal director at
Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund,
will be the luncheon speaker. Planned ses
sions include a focus on AIDS (including the
practicalities of getting Social Security dis
ability for PWAs), family law (including the
new adoption statute) and the ways in which
bankruptcy and tax law affect lesbian and gay
couples. Cost of the CLE is $85 for attorney
members of NC GALA and $30 for student
members. The CLE will be held on Saturday,
January 27, 1996 at the Koury Convention

The Charlotte Chapter of P-FLAG (Par
ents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and
Gays) is seeking logo submissions for the
Nila and Stokley Bailey/P-FLAG Scholar
ship Fund established at the University of
North Carolina at Charlotte. A cash prize of
$100 will be awarded to the creator of the
winning logo. Non-winning entries will be
returned only if an SASE is enclosed. Entries

by setting up homes with no more than three
residents and providing them with attractive
surroundings. His first project, in his home
town in Oregon, has already opened. The cost

The National Lesbian and Gay Journalists
Association (NLGJA) is seeking applications
for their newly created position of Executive
Director. The successful candidate should
have a familiarity with journalism and jour
nalists, as well as experience in management,
program development and fundraising. In
addition, they are seeking someone who is a
strong fiscal manager with excellent budget
ing and financial reporting skills, an experi
enced communicator with a record of coali
tion building, and experience in working with
a chapter-based national organization. Since
the Executive Director will be the primary
representative of NLGJA to the public, the
applicant should possess a high degree of
political acumen, be at home in front of the
camera and before large audiences, and have
a good public image. The position is open to
all qualified candidates regardless of race,

Hall Closet Book Company is a new pub
lisher of gay and lesbian audio books. Origi
nally begun to serve the visually impaired,
audio books are now enjoyed by anyone with
limited leisure reading time. Audio books can
be listened to as one jogs, gardens, cooks,
drives, etc. Presently available are Fadeout
by Joseph Hansen and Hallowed Murder by
Ellen Hart, both mysteries, but the company
plans to publish ten titles per year. Hall Closet
