certed effort to legitimize the practice of
homosexuality. Homosexuality is an aber
rant sexual behavior, and as such I have
complete sympathy and understanding for
those who are suffering from this condition.
Practiced by consenting adults within the
confines of their own private lives, homosex
uality is not a threat to sodety. Those con
senting adults practidng this behavior in pri
vacy should not be
hassled by a sodety
which respects the
sanctity of private sex
ual life. But when the
attempt is made to
drag this practice out of
the closet and into the
public square in an ‘in
your face’ attempt to
“force sodety to accept
and recognize this
behavior as being just
as legitimate and nor
mal as the natural
man/woman relation
ship, every effort
should be made, r>ve years,
including force if necessary, to halt this effort
“Any conscientious individual afflicted
with homosexuality should acknowledge
that a healthy society requires a model of
sexual behavior to be held up and main
tained without assault. Like other humans
suffering from various disabilities, homo
sexuals should not attempt to infect the
rest of society with their particular illness.”
Lesbian nightdub bombing in Atlanta
“The first device was designed not neces
sarily to target the patrons of this homosex
ual bar, but rather to set the stage for the next
device, which was again targeted at
Washington agents. The attack itself was
meant to send a powerful message in protest
of Washington’s continued
tolerance and support for
the homosexual political
agenda.”

Rudolph escaped capture for more
than iwe years.
Five years in hiding
“Washington was lucky
that day in Birmingham,
they had a witness who
happened into a fortuitous
position, and my truck was
identified..! knew something
was amiss based upon the
early reports coming out of
Birmingham so I prepared
to make a move as I debat
ed within myself whether or
not to run or fight them in
court. I chose the woods.
“The next year was a starving time.
Hunted and haggard, I struggled to sur
vive. But I am a quick study, and so I
learned to adapt to my situation. 1 adapted
so well, I decided to take my fight to my
enemies.”
Pride still on schedule

Charlotte Pride has been plagued with
troubles since last year’s event and the
arrival of the anti-gay organization
Operation Save America. OSA members
somehow managed to set up shop in the
festival with a tent from which they dis
tributed anti-gay religious literature, vyhile
many posed as stealth operatives, weaving
their way in and out of the crowd harass
ing LGBT festival-goers by videotaping
them, querying them about their sexuality
and suggesting they should consider
changing their orientation. By days end an
estimated 50 OSA members were removed
from the park during the event.
“That won’t happen again,” says Kris
Conyers, Pride vice president. “We’ve met
with attorneys and had a new contract
drawn up that participants must sign in
order to be involved. It allows us to make
them leave at our discretion.”
According to Conyers, the contract also
indicates that vendors or organizations may
not harass Pride attendees in any manner.
OSA, however, has promised to be back at
the festival in some way or another, though it
is expected that this year there presence will
only be felt from sidewalk protests.
Pride’s problems, though, don’t end there.
Last November, OSA members once
again went on the offensive when they
attended a city council meeting to ask the
city to stop renting park space to Pride
because they felt aspects of the festival
were lewd and obscene.
Despite opposition from Mayor Pat
McCrory, the festival was eventually grant
ed a license and the ball was rolling again
for Pride 2005.
But now the event is facing serious finan
cial woes with a debt from Pride 2004. The
event’s other vice president, Nathan Smith,
has sent out multiple calls for donations in
an attempt to keep Pride 2005 on track.
“So many people know that Charlotte
Pride is a [vehicle] for social acceptance
and for celebration. They say they want to
support, but not a lot of support has come
through our doors,” says Smith
“When we had our Pride Community
Forum a few weeks back someone asked
about our financial situation and I was
very blunt about it. We have a debt, a debt
of around $6,000 that we are trying to
erase. We have reached out to the com
munity and there have been a wonderful
few that have come back with open arms
by either donating or offering to volunteer
the day of the festival.”
It is Smith’s hop« that attendees to this
year’s festival will donate some of their
hard-earned cash back to the gay commu
nity through offerings to Pride.
“Then Charlotte Pride would be in a
wonderful position to pay off the debt,
have a wonderful festival this year and
have money left over to start working on
Charlotte Pride 2006.”
