Last year, for the first time in five years, numerous U.S. cities and towns reported an increase in new HIV infections. Now in its ninth year, AIDSWalk Charlotte and thousands of volunteers, walk ers and supporters are working diligently to recommit themselves and engage communi ty support to stop this deadly disease. “As the number of new HIV/AIDS infec tions increase in our region, we must get the community more involved in advocat ing for services and education,.” says Rev. Deborah C. Warren, president and CEO of AIDS wXlk 2005 RAIN. “AIDSWalk Charlotte is a way for individuals to walk in memory of those who have finished their journey, walk with those who join us in advocacy, and look to the future when our steps will have helped stop its spread.” Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Guest speakers and musicians will entertain walkers prior to the 10 a.m. kick-off.
