The meeting will be held on August 9 at 7 p.m. at the Southend Brewery (Powerhouse Lounge, 505 W Jones St.). There will be a $10 suggested donation colleaed at the door, but no one will be turned away. Also at the meeting, TLCR chapter offi cers who were recently elected will be installed. They are: Rollin Kibbe, president: David Ifemblay, treasurer; and Jami Taylor, secretary. No vice president will be installed due to a position vacancy. TLCR encourages all qualified candidates to step forward in the coming year to fill the slot. Kibbe is a wireless network engineer for Cisco Systems and Tremblay is a recep tionist for Constella Group. Taylor, a PhD student at North Carolina State University, focuses her research on transgender relat ed public policy. Meeting on the third Monday of each month from 7-9 p.m., GirlSpace is a sup port/discussion social group open to all LGBT and questioning girls. Church hosts pro-LGBT rally LAKE JUNALUSKA — The official confer ence center for the United Methodist Church’s conservative Southeast Jurisdiction is hosting a four-day pro-LGBT rally Sept. 2- 5. Lake Junaluska is located near Asheville. Called Hearts on Fire, the convocation is organized by Reconciling Congregations, the main pro-LGBT lobby group attempt ing to overturn the United Methodist Church’s teachings on marriage and sexu al ethics. According to Reconciling Congregations, Hearts on Fire will convene United Methodists of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Reconciling hopes to attract 400 United Methodists to the convocation. Speakers will include seven bishops: Susan Morrison, Melvin Talbert, Joseph Sprague, Sally Dyck, John Schol, Minerva Carcano and Richard Wilke. Other speakers are openly lesbian United Methodist minister Beth Stroud and Erin Swenson, a male Presbyterian minister who has undergone sex reassignment surgery (MtF).
