Q-Notes staff Pride, mountain style ASHEVILLE — The Asheville Pridefest, slated for Oct. 14 from noon to 10 p.m., is looking for vendors, volunteers and business sponsors. Those who participate will receive advertising space in the Pridefest Program/Resource Guide/Coupon Book. The festival will be held at family-friendly Westgate, with both indoor and outdoor space and a vast amount of parking. The event is alco hol free and is open to all. There will be plenty of music, food and fun. At press time, entertain ment bookings have been secured for Inner Voice, The Kelly Richey Band, Brianna Lane, Cantaria, Divine MAGgees, Elizabeth McCain, Ginny Wilder, Someone’s Sister, Seth Boulton and The Dream Machine and Kat Williams. Pridefest is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organi zation and is striving to make a positive dif ference in the community. This year it is rais ing funds for the Asheville chapter of PFLAG. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. Rule of play review takes place at 10:45 a.m., with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. A boxed lunch will be provided at 1 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. The format is captain’s choice four-person modified scramble. Center launches revamped website CHARLOTTE — The Lesbian 8c Gay Community Center, 1401 Central Ave., is excited to announce the launch of its newly-designed GayCharlotte.com website. The site, whicJi is the most frequently visited LGBT related site in the area, features not only the happenings of The Center, but is also a “one stop shop” for users to find out about the various happenings, events, businesses and organizations that are LGBT- related in the Charlotte area. “We’re really pleased with the way the site is working,” said Executive Director Laura Witkowski.“Part of our values and goals is to enhance access to resources by serving as a central point of information and referrals and our site is specifically designed to enable us to do that.” Board Chair Joe Campos added, “This site is the first step in truly creating an inclu sive community)’ Organizations and businesses can actually log onto the site and create their own account and have control over their listings. This allows them the autonomy to make changes and corrections as needed, so the account holder can always be assured their listing is up to date.“Charlotte is in a unique position as people from all over the country move to the area. RALEIGH — The Triangle Log Cabin Republicans (TLCR) have decided to shake thinks up a bit by changing their meeting for mat, bringing back some of the social aspects of politics they’ve gotten away from. The kick-off for the new venture. Political Cocktails, began on Aug. 24 at George’s Garage in Durham. As usual, since Political Cocktails is a social event, it is open to all, regardless of political or sexual orientation.
