Will you ever have to go back? A. There is that potential — but I’m staying on active duty here. So not for at least four or five years. Hopefully this will be over with long before then. Q. What have you done since you’ve been back home that you really missed? A. I got to go to the neighborhood gallery crawl this past week. I had a party and made homemade chili recently — that was great. Just being able to walk through the grocery store again is incredible. I had a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks yesterday — the taste was unbelievable — and I went to the park with my dogs. They’re all grown up now, not puppies anymore. They sound like com monplace, everyday things you take for grant ed, right? They’re things I’ve missed for a very long time. I don’t take anything for granted anymore. Q. I understand you won’t be staying in Charlotte? A. By the time this comes out I will already be in Texas. I’ll stay there for a month and a half and then move to a mobilization site for an extended period of time. Q. How does your partner feel about this? A. He’s glad I’m here in the states — but he’s not happy aboutjthe location].
