SOUTH CAROLINA Leadership Award at the annual convention of Log Cabin Republicans held May 2-6 in Denver, Colo. S.C. Log Cabin was one of only two chapters around the country receiving an award at the convention. The award was national recognition of the Chapter’s radio ad to fight the discriminatory, anti-gay Amendment #1 last November. The Chapter was also recognized for sending members as delegates to the GOP county con ventions in Charleston County and Greenville County this spring. The national convention also included' other Palmetto State influences: • Bill Oberst, an S.C. Log Cabin member from Pawley’s Island, gave his presentation, “In His Image: the Biology of Sexual Orientation.” Oberst has already made that presentation around South Carolina, and he will continue to tour the Carolinas and Tennessee in the coming months. • S.C. Log Cabin members, Philip Bradley and Doug Warner, serve on the national board of directors of Log Cabin Republicans. • Saturday night’s grand finale gala included a silent and live auction with the “Charleston Getaway” package bringing in the highest bid of all auction items — over $5,000.
