The Ladies’ Missionary Meeting, on
the night of March 9, was a splendid
success. Everything on the program was
“better” and “best.” There was nothing
just “good.” Mrs. J. J. Johnson, the
president, presided with ease and grace,
and each lady did her part superbly. A
certain brother did not need his bottle
of camphor for his good lady. Her part
was among the best. Each man was as
proud as a schoolboy over his lady’s
part, and with good reason. Chief Early
looked like he wanted to do his courting
over again. The young lady ushers were
on their jab, too. Some of the young
men slipped out, and got ushered in
twice. The splendid collection revealed
the appreciation of the great audience
that gathered for the occasion.
The Woman’s Missionary Society of
the First Baptist Church rendered a very
beautiful and interesting program on
Home Missions, Sunday night, at the
church. Several very entertaining talks
and readings were given by the ladies.
The Society appreciated the splendid
congregation, also the generous offering,
which was about $41.00. This amount
will go to Home Missions.
There will be an all-day missionary
rally at Palmerville, the second Sunday
in April. Rev. J. M. Arnette and Rev.
Q. C. Davis, pastor of the First Baptist
Church of Albemarle, will speak in the
afternoon.
Regular preaching services every Sun
day at 11.00 a. m. and 8.00 p. m. Prayer-
meeting every Wednesday evening. Sun
day School every Sunday, at 10.00 o’clock.
We welcome you to worship with us.
The prayer-meetings our deacons are
beginning in the city are a worthy un
dertaking, and we believe akin to the
work our Lord would do in Badin, if he
were here in the flesh.
Pastor Arnette will teach Bible at
Hickory, in one of the “Baptist Mobile
Schools” of North Carolina, the first
week in April.
“It is a long way to Tipperary,” if
you are looking for a “liver” Sunday
School superintendent than E. F. Smith.
Come and see.
Mrs. Arnette attended the Woman’s
Missionary Union of North Carolina, at
Edenton, N. C., March 25 to 28.

The Ladies’ Aid Society of the Meth
odist Church held its regular monthly
meeting at the home of Mrs. B. T. Ad
kins, on Spruce Street. Thirty members
were present, and one new member was
added to the roll. It was decided to
hold another home baking sale, on Satur
day, March 9, 1919, at the Main Phar
macy, as the financial results of the two
previous sales were highly satisfactory.
The proceeds of this sale were given to
the fund for removing and remodeling
the Community Building, for a place of
worship, which when completed will be
known as the First Methodist Episcopal
Church, South, of Badin.
Just a word about the Sunday School.
Mother, Father, is that boy or girl of
yours attending Sunday School? If not,
lead the way for them on next Sunday
morning. We have some vacant seats
at the Badin Theater. Sunday School,
9.45 a. m.; Preaching, 11.00 a. m. and
7.30 p. m. Choir practice every Thurs
day night, at the home of Mrs. Fuller,
on Tallassee Avenue.
On March 7, the boys of Class No. 5,
of Badin Methodist Episcopal Sunday
School, enjoyed an old time “candy-pull
ing,” at the home of their teacher, Mr.
W. W. White. Those present were as
follows: Cortland Roth, Wilson and
Sam Horton, Van Williams, Alpheus and
Ralph White, William Atkins, Joseph
Bartini, Harry Jacobs, and William
White.
The Methodist people have purchased
Community Hall, and are going to move
the building at an early date to their
lot on Hickory and Pine Streets. We
owe the Tallassee Power Company a
deep debt of gratitude for their generous
gift of the lot. We thank one and all,
and especially our friends of the other
churches, for their financial support.
