SHE'S A GOOD FISHERMAN
VirRinia ami Virgin Butner, twins, thirteen
years old, children of Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Butner,
of Xantahala Avenue. They went fishing Satur
day morning. October ii, and in a little while
caught that fine string of carp and bass. Vir
ginia got most of them, but Virgin is doing his
part by carrying the heavy bunch, and holding
them up for the editor to snap them. Does he
like that as much as catching 'em? Xote his
expression for the answer.
Notable Social Event
Quite the largest social event of the sea
son was the The Dansant given by Mes-
dames Thorpe, Parks, and Wake, at the
Thorpe residence, Thursday, the twenty-
ninth, in honor of the recent brides—
Mesdames DuBose, Rhea, Giersch, and
Moore. Those assisting the hostesses
were: Mesdames Book, Pannill, Dunham,
H. J. Smith, Rainey, Coffman, Dotson,
Devereaux, and Grandy. The hours were
from four to six, and from seven-thirty
to ten.
Mrs. Wagner Honored
Monday evening, October 13, Mrs. J.
D. Pannill, Mrs. P. E. Book, and Mrs.
E. W. Dunham were hostesses at a
bridge party, in honor of Mrs. L. S.
