Aiken Moore will be somewhere in the outer gardens, batting his usual 250. Huggins is due to come out this year. Rupert is an ex-small town leaguer, and should show up well in this company. From the Laboratory, we will get Mack Arnette and Hunley. From the Storeroom, we have Kluttz, who is equally at home on first or behind the bat; Hatley, who was in center field part of last season; and Henry Cooper, one of the best of last season's pitchers. Taken altogether, our prospects for repeating in 1920 look good to us. Miss Cora Williams has just returned from her home in Mount Gilead, where she has been recuperating from an at tack of influenza. Mrs. H. S. Leafe has been assisting in the office during her illness. Mr. Harry J. Smith spent several days in New York, where he was called on. account of the death of his brother-in- law, Mr. Haight. Mr. Haight and his wife and daughter recently visited Badin. Mr. Jones spent the week-end with friends in Winston-Salem and States ville. Miss Cornish also spent the week end with parents, in Winston-Salem. Mr. R. W. Teague, from Statesville, has accepted a position with the Com pany. He is assisting Mr. Jones in the Accounting Office. Messrs. Thomas and Greenlee, two of our clock house men, are confined to their homes on account of sickness. Mechanical Department Notes On the morning of the eighteenth, just as the silver rays of the brilliant sun were kissing the fresh spring violets to awake, Mr. A. P. Allen seated himself on the Beaver Dam ferryboat for a trip of adventure—we say adventure, for it was her maiden trip, and at this writing Mr. Allen hasn't returned; but we hope that it was a pleasant day of experiment. Mr. Thos. Ham, who has been with the Mechanical Department for the past year, has been transferred to the em ployment department. His new position will keep him out of town most of the time, but we expect to have him on hand for all the important dances, baseball games, wakes, etc. Mr. J. H. Mason is with the force again, after a few days’ absence as the result of an automobile accident; but Jimmy tells us that his car has joined the Church now, and can make a perfect trip from Albemarle to Badin. We are glad to have the big white safety lines through the Machine Shop, which make it possible for successful motor truck service, and at times we can almost imagine it a national high way. Mr. B. A. Miller, who has been with the Mechanical Department for two years, has resigned his position with the Company to take charge of the Peoples Store, on the Bell corner, as Manager. Mr. W. F. Gambrell was called to Chick Springs, S. C., the eighth, to be with his wife, who will undergo an opera tion at that place. Mr. 0. G. Nelson is relieving him while he is away. Mr. L. C. Williams, who has been out with influenza for several days, greeted us with the usual smile on Monday, the fifteenth. Glad to have him in the force again. Mr. A. P. Dickens has succeeded Mr. A. B. Copel as night timekeeper in the Mechanical Department. Pot Room Notes A big bunch of the Aluminum “Dad dies” paid us a visit recently, and we understand were well pleased with every thing in general. We did not have the opportunity of meeting them in person, as we were very busy the day they visited the Pot Rooms, but we noticed they were being shown around by Messrs. Thorpe, Beers, Parks, Wake, and several other prominent men of the town, so we left it to them to entertain these prominent gentlemen. When you hear the bumblebees begin to bumble, and see the butterflies mak ing butter, and the honeysuckers making honey, you may know that spring is nigh. We were intending spending the spring at the falls, but on consulting our bank account find that we will have JUST RECEIVED A FULL LINE OF OXFORDS AND PUMPS of the Latest Styles, in all Leathers Visit our New Store, in Liles Building on Falls Road BELL SHOE STORE Badin, N.
