Reunited by the war, naval aviation, and chance, both Cornellians —pigskinner and tutor—are now re-enacting familiar scenes, with Cadet Snavely (left) hitting the blocking post under the expert eye and advice of Zitrides. A member of the 18th Battalian, the ex-Big Red footballer finds himself on familiar terrain these days, returning to fields that once witnessed the charges of Carolina teams coached by Carl Snavely, Sr., now head mastermind at Cornell. In 1934 and 1935, Snavely, Jr. attended Chapel Hill High School and sat on the sidelines while Snavely, Sr. turned out national con tenders for the Tar Heels. At the same time, Gregory Zitrides was playing ,a little football at Dartmouth College, making All-Eastern guard in 1937 and 1938, All-American in 1938. After graduation from the New Hampshire school, the watch charm guard moved to Cornell to help tutor athletics for three years. Then he accepted a commission in the Navy. Navy Pre-Flight Cloudbusters to a 56-47 victory over the Univer sity of Virginia in Woollen gym nasium Wednesday afternoon. It was the first win for the Cloudbusters in three starts, and 16 players saw action. Hampscher and Chic with 11 and 10 points respectively were next to Gunning in scoring for the winners. Only Dick Wiltshire, Virginia forward, could hit the basket with any consistency for the losers but his 22-point total, 16 in the first half, was unavailing. Pickett with eight was second high for Vir ginia. Boxing VPI Boxers Lose To Locals, 7-1 Lt.
