“Coaching this Cloudbusteri
nine is not like coaching a high|
school, college, or professional
club,” Kepler explained. “Most off
the cadets are already in top phy-‘
sical shape, and our job is mainly!
to teach them baseball funda-j
mentals.” 1
Of the cadets working out, eight |
won their letters playing college
baseball, and all have had pre
vious experience with either highf
school or sandlot teams.
College players include Bill
Grant, Jr. of the University of
Richmond, Allen Freudenheim of
West Chester Teachers College,
Bill Halson of Manhattan college,
Arthur Greenwood of the Univer
sity of New Hampshire, Henry
Ralicki, Jr., of St. Bonaventure,
William Higgins of V. P. I., George
Bonifant of St. John’s, and James
Murphy of Mt. St. Mary’s.
Others on the squad include Al
len Sturges, John Brosang, LeRoy
Zorn, Robert Wolff, Joe Neverdau-
sky, Britton Fernald, George
Chavous, G. G. Boyle, Claude
Bean, C. M. Anderson, John
Northington, Francis Connelly,
and Leo Brown.
Cadet managers ai’e P. E-
Cooper and Merle Stebbins, both
members of the 20th battalion.
Dusty Cooke, PhMSc, a former
major league outfielder, is the
