Finals of the regimental wrest ling tournament were held Monday afternoon at which time the eight cadet champions were crowned. Under the direction of Lieut. Charles Speidel, USNR, head wrestling coach, and Lieut. Rex Pyles, USNR, of the athletic de partment, the tournament attract ed a fast field of 159 entries. “There were not as many experi enced wrestlers participating as we have had in previous tourna ments,” commented Coach Speidel, “but the boys were very evenly matched, and all made a good showing. Also, much of the credit for the success of the program should go to Lieut. Pyles. He handled all the details of the tour nament, and there was not la single hitch along the way.” All bouts were governed by col legiate and AAU time and rules. All of the 12 athletic squadrons had entries, and the Vindicators, coached by Lieut. Frank J. Hag gerty, USNR, and Lt. (jg) George E. Raab, USNR, won top honors with 76 points. The Kingfishers were second with 38 followed by the Buccaneers with 34, Sky rockets 33, Wildcats 30, Helldivers 27, Catalinas 23, Buffalos 22, Devastators 18, Mustangs 16, and Mariners and Coronados with 8 each. The Abraham-Bro- cato match was a case of the for mer’s finesse over the latter’s strength. Other results: 132—C. W. Bell of Stamford, Conn., over B. A. Dudley of Marl boro, Mass. 138—A. M.
