Football Schedule Is Announced

union when the Naval Training
Station from Norfolk played the
Cloudbusters here Wednesday.
Pesky, DiMaggio and Williams
were teammates last year on the
Boston Red Sox club while Has
sett and Rizzuto played first and
short respectively for the New
York Yankees. All five were
stars in the game which was won
by the Training Station, 6 to 2. DiMaggio and Rizzuto each collected
two hits, and between them scored five of the six Training Station
runs Williams’ long fly to right field in the first scored Lt. (jg)
Morriss Deutsch, USNR, with the first Pre-Flight run, while Pesky
collected two singles in three times at bat. Hassett, although failing
to get a hit, came up with several beautiful plays at first base.
Naval Training Station Defeats

Will Coach Local
Football Eleven
A new coach plus an almost en
tirely new schedule faces the
Cloudbuster football eleven here
this fall.
The six game schedule, as re
leased today by Comdr. John P.
Graff, USN (Ret.), Commanding
Officer, shows Nort*h Carolina
State and the U. S. Navy Pre-
Flight School at Athens, Ga. as
the only holdovers from last year’s
eleven game schedule. Newcomers
include the U. S. Naval Academy,
Duke, VPI and Camp Davis.
While releasing the new sched
ule Comdr. Graff also announced
that Lieut. Francis H. Kimbrough,
USNR, would serve as head foot
ball coach.
A graduate of Simmons Uni
versity, Abilene, Texas, Lieut.
Kimbrough served as football
coach at Baylor University before
being commissioned in the Navy.
“Other games are expected to be
added before fall,” Comdr. Graff
stated. “However, there will not
be any inter-sectional contests.”
One of the better service clubs
in the nation last year, the Cloud
busters won eight, lost two and
tied one. The games with North
Carolina State and Athens Pre-
Flight were among the best play
ed. State was defeated, 19 to 7,
and the game with Athens ended
in a thrilling 14-14 tie.
