Subj; The parade on Thursday, December 2, 1943 in honor of
the British Ambassador to the United States.
1. The Commanding Officer, in his position as Senior Naval
Officer Present, Chapel Hill area, extends his compliments to the
Commanding Officer, his staff and the Pre-Flight Cadets on the
fine appearance and smart general bearing of the cadet regiment
on the occasion of the subject parade.
2. His Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador, Lord Halifax, v^rho
is fully cognizant of the armed services’ student programs in
both this country and in Britain, expressed his genuine pleasure
and appreciation.

All-American
(jg) John Kuzman, USNR,
^bove, left tackle on the Cloud-
^Uster football team this fall, was
^*amed on the New York Daily
^ews All-American Service Team,
it was announced here this week.
Weighing 230 pounds and stand
ing six feet, one inch tall, Lt. (jg)
Kuzman was a standout in every
game in which he participated.
Especially did he receive praise
for his performances against
Camp Davis and Camp Lejeune.
A graduate of Fordham, class
Df ’41, Lt. (jg) Kuzman was named
to most All-American college
teams at tackle in 1939 and 1940.
Upon graduation he played pro
fessional football with the Chicago
Cardinals and was named on the
East All-Star football team of
1941.
Gift Wrapping Service
Available to Cadets
A free Christmas gift wrapping
service is available to all cadets at
the Recreation Center located
across from the Chapel Hill post
office. Ladies will be on hand to
wrap the gifts during all hours
that the cadets have town liberty.

Visits Here
During special ceremonies held
to honor his visit to Chapel Hill,
Lord Halifax, British Ambassador
to the United States, reviewed a
combined formation of 3,500 Pre-
Flight cadets, NROTC, V-12 and
ASTP students in Kenan Stadium
last Thursday morning. '
The distinguished visitor was
accompanied to Chapel Hill by
Governor J. M. Broughton of
North Carolina, and was greeted
in the reviewing stand by officials
of the University and of the Army
and Navy units located here.

Carolina Coed Will Sing
At Cadet Dance Tonight
Joan Kosberg, sultry-voiced
Carolina coed from Elizabeth, N.
J., will be the featured songstress
at the dance being given for the
regiment of cadets in Woollen
gymnasium tonight.
Sharing the vocal spotlight with
her will be Dave Jenkins, tenor,
and James Heap, baritone, both
members of the cadet glee club.
Swing music for the occasion will
be provided by the swing section
of the Pre-Flight band.
One of the most popular musical
performers on the campus. Miss
Kosberg has appeared with
Tommy Reynolds and his orchestra
and has received an audition at
radio station WOR in New York.
As a member of the local Play-
makers group, she played impor
tant parts in the productions “The
Eve of Saint Mark” and “A Mid
summer Night’s Dream,” as well
as the title role in the Gilbert and

Sullivan operetta “lolanthe” last
winter.
The dance is scheduled to start
at 2030 and end at 2315, with taps
